Mind Blowing Science!

Morgan got to blow up a few volcanoes today and experiment with changing colors, bases, acids and even red cabbage juice (which Daddy says smells pretty gross--Morgan and I are too congested to smell it). This science kit is pretty awesome and Morgan and Daddy had a ball with it today. It was a great activity and way to spend the slow Sunday (and if you take a close look - also a PJ day)! Thank you, Uma and Upa!!So here (above) is the building of the volcano.
Then you pour a purple concoction together to create a "lake/sea" effect.
And lastly, you place just a little citric acid to let it blow!
That was by far the coolest part!

And if the volcano wasn't enough...Morgan was my "guinea pig" for my project for tomorrow...
what a trooper!

New Shoes

Yes, Morgan does need new shoes because she somehow lost them between home and school. But these ones would do her no good at either place...Morgan got new Irish Step dancing shoes today!

Excuse this picture. Maddie was getting jealous that she wasn't getting her picture taken, so she was following me around, saying "Cheese!" This is the best that she would cooperate, though!
But, here are the new shoes in action...
Before the music...

(Please ignore the mess in the house...it was a snow day after all...)

And now with some music...

And now Maddie gives it a try...

Seeing White

Just so you have an idea of how much snow we have...
And here is a why that pile is so high...

And some pictures of our street/neighbors, oh, and Morgan in the snow! Maddie not such a fan right now.
The tree in our front yard...poor thing! Where did it go?!

Our neighbors digging out. I'm sure they'll appreciate the big pregnant lady taking these!

Daddy with the snowblower and Morgan having a fine time! Before Morgan left Maddie! I thought Maddie might have lost some weight while she was sick until I saw this picture!!!

This picture is not from this past storm, but from the last snow day we had. Needless to say, Morgan's having a fine time!!!

The Dog Days of Winter

Well, there's not much to report here on the home front. It's about -8 degrees outside this morning and yet another moderate - major snowstorm is expected on Wednesday. We still have 2 feet of snow outside, so not sure where this one will go, but I'm sure we'll find some room if it comes! At least, Kevin will!!

Maddie continues to battle colds, fevers and everything in between. It has been a Nightmare on Dixon Ave, but hoping that she'll be like her big sister Morgan and get everything this year and then be healthy as horse in the years to come. I took her yesterday to give blood to check out any food allergies, so we'll see how that goes.

Morgan is doing unbelievably well. She has skipped the stomach bug, colds and fevers that Maddie has brought home that both Kevin and I have gotten. And, she's got her first wiggly tooth and is loving showing it off to everyone. She even brought her tooth pillow to school for show and tell and to Gamma and Papa's house. Yesterday she spent the day with Papa...went to his new office, stopped by Auntie Annie's on the way home and then even spent some of the day with Gamma and Papa at their house. She had a ball and says that her favorite part was seeing the "Pirates of Penzance" ship (a.k.a The Constitution), and practicing her Irish Step Dancing to the video at Papa's house. She said she liked that so much because she's so much better than those dancers..."I can go faster!" I said it wasn't all about "going faster" but she assured me that not only was it all about going fast, but it was about knowing the steps! Apparently they missed a few in the video!! :0)

We were hoping this week would bring some normalcy - a full week of school and schedules, but Wednesdays storm is looking like it might keep us on our toes. And as much as I would love another snow day, is it possible to send the kids somewhere else, so we could have a little peace and quiet?! Maybe even get a few things accomplished!!!

Maddie In Action...Constant Action

Dancin' Queen

"Hi Bobby!" We got your thank you note today Bob (which was unnecessary) and Morgan was talking about you and Maddie walked around saying "Bobby!" the rest of the night. :0)

And the last one... Maddie reads "Dada's book"

My husband, My hero

Shortly after making my post on Sunday, Kevin and I both got Maddie's stomach bug that she so kindly passed to us this weekend. Well, while I could barely take care of myself (granted, a pregnant self), Kevin took excellent care of the girls. He made sure they were entertained, fed (well, at least Morgan who has yet to get this awful thing), and even caught up on some much needed laundry. He also made trips to bus stops, "Gamma Daycare" and the store for gingerale and gatorade. And all while he was sick too!!

I never really give him too much credit (as he gives himself plenty!), but he is a super star...and will continue to be one as we'll probably get 10-15" of snow tomorrow and we'll need some digging out!!

Thank you, Kevin!! We love you!!!

Chuck and Chibby

You'll never guess who joined us this weekend for a second time this year?!!! How did you guess it?! CHUCK!!! Morgan's "weekend friend" from school last visited us with when we went to Washington DC to see Luke, Ryan, Ali and Bob. He has now returned to us for the weekend...a relatively uneventful weekend compared to last time. Maddie's been under-the-weather with the stomach bug, so mostly Chuck has been taking care of the girls. Morgan and I did escape for a bit to take Chuck to see "Yogi Bear" at the movie theater. He enjoyed some popcorn and water, and made only 2 trips to the bathroom during the 1.5 hour show. He laughed at Yogi and Booboo's antics and really had a great time.
Allow me the pleasure of introducing "Chibby" to you. "Chibby" was made at Build-A-Bear and quite possibly may be the ugliest thing I've ever seen. But of ALL the stuffed animals there, Morgan fell in love with him, and thus here he is...the newest member of the family!
