Merote

Morgan has been working very hard the past week and a half, since she has noticed that she was not saying the hard "c" sound. She constantly tries to think of words that have the "c" sound in it and will say it about a dozen times, and then rhymes other words with it. Pretty clever, I say, for a 4 year old. "Blink, think, pink, sink" it goes on and on and on!! She could be having a perfectly normal conversation with you and interrupt herself when she comes to "c" sound. Yup, I'd say she's ready for Southfield!!

Regardless though, I must say that I think my favorite thing that she says that I can't seem to find it in my heart to correct is "merote" which, if you can't figure it out is, "remote." It's just too funny and cute.

All is well here. We're packing up pretty much the entire house for the next three weeks on the Cape. Daddy will join us on weekends and once/twice a week. My hope is that while we're gone, he's going to attack the "list" that I'm kindly leaving him. I figure it's now or never. Morgan has her last day of camp tomorrow and then we leave on Sunday. Hoping we can fit everything in the car. I seriously think we're taking everything....except the kitchen sinK and the "merote!!"

Bon Jovi

On Saturday, I went to the Bon Jovi Concert...my present from Kev for my birthday. Yes, I escaped from the kiddos (and even Kevin since he didn't want to go) and went and saw Bon Jovi with my friend, Katie. It was a great time and fun concert. Lots of good old songs mixed in with some more recent, and ended with "Living on a Prayer," which is exactly how I'm feeling these days. Another job interview today...so, we'll see!!!

Bubble Olympics

Every year at Dexter Camp, they hold a "Bubble Olympics" where parents/family can come watch the kids swim and see their amazing progress. Morgan is a "frog" which means she can swim anywhere with a bubble. When she loses the bubble, she will be a "whale" I believe. Right now, Mr. Costello (who's the big guy in the pictures--he runs the pool in the summer) feels she can be a "whale" but Morgan refuses to lose the bubble. Maybe next year!!! Here are some picts/video from the day!! Maddie and Daddy watching Morgan swim!
Morgan showing off her skills with kick board.
And swimming on her back.
Getting the kick board and waiting her turn...
Mr. Costello uses Morgan has his "example" to show parents the "bubble."
Gamma takes a turn keeping Maddie away from the pool!

Flying Squirrels

So, I got this email from Morgan's friend, Katya's mom...I just couldn't stop laughing and had to share...

Katie, hi!
I forgot to ask you last time i was dropping Morgan off...
Morgan said you have a flying squirrel as at pet at home and that you
are going to get another one. Is that a real pet or is she talking
about an imaginary friend? :)
We had a flying squirrel once and really liked it, so now we are
thinking about getting another one (since Little Chicks is not
interested in coming back), but we are having troubles finding a
breeder that would be selling these...

Thanks

(P.S. Still can't find the camera cord). And surgery went well, though it's been a slow recovery. Hence, the lack of posts! Apparently, out of 200 surgeries my doctors does (like mine) a year, mine was the worst he's seen. So, that's something!! Hoping to get back on my game this week!!

Weekend Update

I can't seem to find the plug for the camera. Otherwise, I could show you pictures of how Maddie is trying to feed herself. Peas, yogurt, various pastas - all end in the same places - high chair tray, Maddie and the floor. But, it's quite the entertainment, especially when she's so fussy! She's working on one of her molars, it looks like, and apparently it's quite painful. I don't get it. She only has 6 teeth and instead of the others coming in first, she's just going to skip that. But, what do I know? All I know is I no longer have a "baby" on my hands. I have a true "toddler" who can climb stairs, open doors, change the channel, take out everything from my purse or diaper bag, and yes, who can throw temper tantrums like a true redhead. Like her sister, actually. Gee, I wonder where Maddie learned that?

Speaking of Morgan(!!!!), she is doing great. Loving camp. She had a play date with Katya on Saturday and spent most of the day with her. Went blueberry picking at a local farm and then back to Katya's house. We went to dinner with Gamma and Papa Saturday night. Morgan was very overtired and Maddie was all smiles. On Sunday Papa took Morgan to the driving range right down the street and let her hit some balls with her new clubs. Morgan was so excited when I told her the plan, she was jumping up and down, high fiving Kevin and I. Of course, while they just had to have some ice cream too. Morgan came home showing me her grip, and all the things Papa taught her, "eyes on the ball, head down" and "this is where I am supposed to put my feet." And since Papa suggested that she could practice in the back yard, that is all Morgan is talking about...going to practice. She has to do that "a lot!"

Tomorrow is "D-Day"....around here that is Deviated Septum day. Surgery is scheduled for 1245 which means I'll pretty much be starved all day. Diet, I guess, starts tomorrow. From what I hear, I'll be looking pretty good for about a week in case you run into me! I may be in hibernation, depending on how it goes. Will keep you posted as best I can!

McLean Family Reunion

Happy 4th of July! Unfortunately our camera was missing most of the time in South Bend, so these are the only pictures we do have! Between swimming, snacking, keeping Maddie safe as she learned to climb the stairs for the first time (!!!), seeing Eclipse, celebrating birthdays, and catching up with the family, I didn't have much time to find the camera. Though I hear there are many good ones and I look forward to those.

The weekend couldn't have gone much faster...we had a great time and can't thank you enough Baboo for another wonderful McLean Family Reunion!!! Can't wait to see picts! Here's the few we have..
Auntie Katie and her Maddie
Baboo and Maddie snacking/sneaking some chips! Yum!
Morgan and Maddie liking the hotel room! And bed!
