Trick or Treat!

The scarecrow made an appearance!!!
We had 3 pumpkins this year...this is the last one standing, and not by much. As Maddie and I were walking home from trick-or-treating, we saw a possum enjoying it! Little rascal!
Our flying pumpkins...the only safe ones from the animals! :)

As far as Halloweens go, this was a great one. We began with a parade and party at Morgan's teacher, Mrs. McEwen's house. Morgan had an absolute ball (as did we)! She got some candy they were throwing at the parade, PLUS a goody-bag from Mrs. McEwen!! She'll be talking about that all week!!!

We came home, rested up, had dinner and headed out for our own 20 minute trick-or-treat run! I tell you, that's the way to do it (if you have to at all!)! It was quick and easy and both girls are so exhausted from the day, they were toast by 7pm!!
Eating dinner before we left...

Funny story

This really happened, no joke here!
So at school today, a priest walks into my classroom. I forgot his name and was feeling guilty for not remembering (must be that Catholic guilt), so I just said to the kids, "please welcome our visitor."

Some of the kids walk over and say hi and began a conversation with Father ???? So, this one girl yelled across the room to the priest, "HI GOD!"

I just about fell out of my chair. I said to him, "Well, if that's not a compliment, I don't know what is!"

:)

5 year old stats

Morgan's 5 year old check up stats:
43.25 lbs. -- 72%ile
44" tall -- 80%ile
passed the eye and hearing test with flying colors!
had 4 shots (including the flu). Note to self: just b/c she's 5, doesn't mean she won't put up an enormous stink and fight you in order to not get shots! Thank God Daddy was there to hold her down!!

And apparently turning 5 will not stop you from testing out the old "cutting my own hair" thing. Morgan took a snip-it from her hair today at school, semi-confessed in saying "somebody cut my hair" while holding up the ziploc bag with a small chunk of hair in it. After much help from me and Kevin, she said, "Soandso from school cut my hair"....actually blaming it on a classmate. So, I said, "if I call Mrs. McEwen, what is she going to tell me?"
"Well, she'll tell you it was me. I did it."

On the sister side: Maddie is saying anything and everything! Some recent words are: no (!! Great!!), home, car, thank you, coat. And she can shake her head yes and no to almost anything you ask her! :)

My girls are growing up fast!!!

And the Birthday Party!

Yeah! What a huge success! Everyone seemed to have a great time and it was relatively easy and painless! Morgan had an absolute ball. And Maddie has a pretty good time too!

Hayoung loved the John Deere the most.

MORGAN TURNS 5!!!

5 years ago on October 15th, Kevin and I were living in Newport, RI when I went into labor with a soon-to-be red-head!

Of course, at the same time I went into labor also happened to coincide with the ND-USC pep rally which could be viewed on the internet. That was on the 3rd floor. Kevin asked if I could go up to the 3rd floor so he could continue to time my contractions while he watched the pep rally. No problem!

When I was about 4 minutes apart, we left our apartment on Memorial Boulevard in Newport and were ready to head to Newport Hospital. Our neighbors were blocking our car, so after waiting about 5 minutes for them to answer the door!

We arrived at Newport Hospital. Kevin parked the car in the emergency room parking lot. I got out of the car - or at least tried- but he parked so close to the car next to us (and I was so HUGE!!!) I couldn't fit!! He had to get back in and re-park the car!

Oooohhh...just the beginning of our wonderful, amazing, and sometimes exhausting (will she ever stop talking and pause for a breathe?!) memories with our Morgan!

And what an exciting celebration we had on Friday night! Thanks to Uncle Brian (Morgan's "best friend"), Brendan, Caitlin, Auntie Annie, Gamma and Papa for coming over for pizza, cake and ice cream! What a way to start the birthday weekend!
Morgan gets of the bus on her first day of 5!!!

Her cake with light blue frosting and butterflies!
Morgan gets a skooter.
A fantastic shirt from Nana
Sharing some cake and ice cream with Gamma!
Thank you Uma and Upa!
Testing out the skooter!
Making a wish!
Brendan and Caitlin - yeah!!
A piggy bank from KBEL!

Thank you to all who helped make Morgan's birthday so special! We had a great day today! Now, getting ready to gear up for tomorrow's party with friends!

Morgan and Chuck

Morgan and Chuck's weekend together came to a close last weekend, but I just had to post her journal from the weekend!

Alexandria, VA

In case you don't believe me, it's true. These are the only picts I took while we were on our trip. I always go into a trip with the best of intentions to take lots of pictures and make sure we have the camera, and then something always goes array (??right spelling??) and it just doesn't happen. But in my defense, I would like to say that being pregnant with number 3 (shshsh...Morgan doesn't know yet!!!) and having 2 little ones is probably a pretty good excuse. Plus we also had 3-4 other people taking the same picts!!

Our latest addition...just a temporary one (the weekend kind)...his name is Chuck. He is Morgan's class' weekend friend, so all the kids get turn taking "Chuck" home for the weekend. This weekend was Morgan's turn and Chuck made the trip all the way to DC. He sat with Morgan on the airplane, ate all meals but especially loved breakfast. He even went to the Abraham Lincoln Memorial, the White House, and of course, Luke's birthday party. Morgan was in tears last night when she had to say good-bye to Chuck, but she made a great page in the journal for school. And despite us not having pictures at hand, the whole rest of the Kennedy clan does, so stay tuned for more picts to follow...

Has it really been this long?!

I can't believe so much time has passed since my last post...and no pictures to even boot. Camera was just found today. I do have a couple of good pictures of Maddie's "bite" but otherwise nothing else exciting.

School is keeping me super busy and on my toes throughout the day which makes putting my feet up at the end of the day even more rewarding. I feel like Kevin is the same - though he's less concerned about putting his feet up and more excited about just trying to not have papers to grade or phone calls (yes - even post school hours) to make.

The girls are great. Morgan continues to LOVE school. She's coming home with letter sounds and books and pages of drawings and pictures. Today she went to the Farm in the pouring rain and picked pumpkins. Tomorrow the parents are invited to a "fall festival" to paint the pumpkin, etc. Unfortunately I won't be able to go, but Kevin will be there so at least she has someone.

Maddie continues to love school too though she's super congested still and fussy before and after drop-off/pick-up. She was on antibiotics a couple of weeks ago and her congestion went away. Went off and it immediately returned. Go figure.

So excited to be headed to DC this weekend and can't wait to celebrate Luke's 2nd birthday with the whole fam!!! I know it will be great to see everyone, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that I too will be sleeping at naptime!!! :)
