Above: Last day of K2. Below: Heading to first golf lesson
Morgan will be at camp all summer, and she's so ready for it. She also just started golf lessons yesterday. Her "homework" was to practice her swing and watch the US Open. She has already done both and her lesson was yesterday. She no longer walks anywhere. Anytime she's not reading, playing, watching her new favorite show, Jessie, she's Irish Step Dancing. TOnight I decided to try and learn something from her, and dance with her. She kept telling me, "Mom, you're embarrassing me!" There was no one else there, but Connor! :) She's also started her first book of summer, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid - The Ugly Truth." She just started last week and she's 150 pages into it - showoff!!! I love it!!!
Above/Below: Just "Maddie being Maddie!"
Maddie, as Kevin says, "is just being Maddie" after "Manny's just being Manny!" And she is. Funny story about Maddie - so we give Connor and Maddie a bath, get in PJ's, brush teeth and go upstairs to head into bed. I go in and put Connor to sleep in the crib. Maddie goes into the bathroom to try one last time before bed. I put Connor in, come and close the door, and Kevin is talking to Maddie through the bathroom door - "Maddie, just unlock the door. Move the switch!" So, needless to say, Maddie locked herself in the bathroom. While we both try to talk to her to unlock the door, this clearly was making no progress. SO, I start running around the house trying to find the key to the door. Couldn't find it. So, Kevin gets a screwdriver, hammer, and swiss army knife, and starts at the door. He unscrews the plate to the handle and moves it over, so he could see through the key hole. Only there's a key hole on the plate, but no hole for one to go into, so needless to say not having the key didn't make a bit of difference. Maddie is on/off upset, crying here and there and calling out for us - poor thing! He begins chipping away at where he thinks the lock is, and sure enough gets a decent chunk of the door off, sees the lock, and turns it with the wrench of his swiss army knife. The door unlocks, opens. Maddie is standing there, pants/underwear down around her ankles, her eyes all welled up with tears, and says, "It's me!! It's Maddie!!"
Oh Lord, I love that girl!
And there's there Connor. Happy, fearless, motivated and just trouble! He's such a boy and it's such a welcome change in this house! He loves to climb - has recently learned how to get himself standing on the kids' chairs, and is working his way onto the couch. That's a serious problem because once he's on the couch, his favorite thing to do is to crawl onto the end tables next to the couch. And that's just scary! And he's eating us out of house and home! I do not have enough food to give that child and he's only 14 months! What will happen when he's a teenager? He's so easygoing and just so happy from the moment he wakes up. The girls are always so grumpy when they wake up and he's ready to start his day! So fun!
So, it should be a great summer! We're ready for it. Now - just need LOTS and LOTS of sunscreen!!
